| Consultation in the Regeneration of Ballymun | As part of a larger group I
was involved in drafting several documents relating to difficulties with
the way the regeneration programme was being pursued. One of the
biggest issues was consultation. Even within the local 'Forums' (of
which I served for about a year as secretary), established by the
regeneration company (BRL), there was no clear cut opinion on
what 'consultation' was or should have been. Many involved or affected
felt there was none. I drafted a document that summarized a mix of
what several different interested groups were looking for and gave it the
awkward title of 'A Three
Phase Model of Consultation'. Sadly, the regeneration programme is back in the news in relation to the construction and sale of some of the new apartment complexes. |
