Disaster at Nevado Del Ruiz, 1985. On the morning of November 13 1985 the town of Armero in Colombia was swamped by a masive mud flow caused by the eruption of Nevado del Ruiz. Heat from the eruption melted the ice cap on the volcano. The melt water mixed with the soil to form a deady mud flow which buried the town of Armero and 23,000 of its inhabitants. Read more |
